Day Camp: Pre-K through Grade 8
Program Overview
Launched in 2024, our Korean School Immersion Camp has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from families. Many parents who were initially hesitant later became some of the most satisfied with the experience.
This unique program was co-created by the founder of the host school and the Global Bridge Camp team to ensure a seamless and enriching experience.
The camp takes place in Gimpo at an international-style Korean school focused on preparing students for future studies abroad. Please note that SIA is not an English-speaking international school.
Unlike seasonal programs, this is a year-round offering. Families may enroll not only during the summer, but throughout the year, so students can join at a time that works best for them.
Campers are immersed in a Korean school setting and experience daily life alongside local students. They are placed in classes matching their current grade and follow the same schedule as their Korean peers. This is a school-immersion program rather than a Korean language camp—the primary takeaway is authentic classroom and school-life experience, not formal Korean language instruction.
Immersive Experience
Campers live and learn as Korean students, participating in cultural, academic, and social activities that reflect real Korean school life. Camp is available for Pre-K through Grade 8.
Class Size & Classroom Setup
Class sizes are small, typically ranging from 4 to 10 students depending on grade. This setting helps campers ease into the classroom and receive natural support from teachers and peers.
There are no assistant teachers, so campers follow the same flow and pace as local students—an essential part of authentic immersion.
Classroom Participation:
Campers follow the full daily school schedule.
Korean-language classes are taught entirely in Korean, while English classes are taught in English. Teachers often provide guidance, and many students find ways to participate even with limited Korean.
At first, children may observe quietly. As they grow more comfortable, they typically begin engaging with classmates, joining activities, and picking up school routines naturally.
Language Environment:
No prior Korean is required to join this camp
Most of the day takes place in Korean. While the language challenge can feel significant at first, this environment helps campers quickly absorb everyday expressions, classroom vocabulary, and cultural habits.
Students often surprise their parents with how quickly they adjust- even those with little or no prior Korean ability.
What Parents Should Know
1
Classroom Participation
Students will follow the same daily schedule as Korean students. Most lessons are taught in Korean, but our campers are encouraged to observe, engage, and participate where possible. Teachers often provide extra support, and many students find ways to connect even with the language barrier.
2
English Support
Unlike many local schools in Korea, this host school has students with a higher level of English ability, making it easier for our campers to communicate and feel comfortable in class.
3
Afternoon & Enrichment Sessions
Beyond the core academic schedule, campers also join a variety of enrichment classes that may include:
-
Figure Skating
-
Swimming
-
Fencing
-
Orchestra
-
Physical Education (PE)

Important Expectation
This program is designed as a true Korean school immersion. Parents should be aware that while campers will have support, much of the day will be in Korean. This cultural and linguistic challenge is part of the program’s unique value and learning experience.
